Hello! Or should I say...bonjour?

Well, as you can see I couldn’t keep my lame jokes off of this blog, lol. But, hello!!!!!!!!

Funny how every time we say something along the lines of “hey! We’re finally back for good!”, we usually never post again until months have passed. It is not our intention at all, but we have been busier than ever.

In the last months, Oddie got a weekend (sometimes full-week) job and me (as in Gee, the other half of this bog) moved to Paris. No, not permanently. I wish! *sigh* But I am studying abroad for a semester. So, as you can see, we have been keeping a long distance friendship for two months! It is not the easiest thing to do because our time zones are totally different and most of the time, when one of us is going to bed, the other one is wide awake. Now, add a blog into that equation and it becomes a harder. But hey, here I am, writing a post that was intended to be up in August. Oops.

I tried, and I swear I did, to vlog. But my vlogging abilities are definitely not on point. So, instead, I’m going to summarize the last 53 days in a few lines haha.

I don’t know why, but I’ve never had a problem when it comes to jet lag. I usually don’t experience it and this time was not the exception. I slept like a baby and was ready to wander around the city the next day. I attribute it to the excitement that runs through my veins every time I am in a different city. But that doesn’t mean I don’t struggle to get up every morning! I’m so scared to sleep in on school days, so I usually set like 5 alarms haha.

Onto my experiences in Paris...The university I’m studying at couldn’t be closer to the Eiffel tower, so I’ve been spending a lot of my time there. There are for things you need to do when it comes to it:
  • Visit it at night because it sparkles. Eeeeek. Every hour for 5 minutes only! (And I recently discovered that half of it sparkles in the morning, but I’m trying to figure out if it’s a usual thing.)
  • Spend some euros and get to the top of it. It’s probably not a great idea right now because it’s fall and I can bet it’s really windy and cold at the top, but during the summer is amazing. Plus, you’ve got a pretty damn amazing view of the city.
  • I’ve discussed this with a few pals, but we don’t really like the Eiffel tower during the day. We just think it’s not thaaaaaaaaat appealing to the eye (please don’t hate us, french people). But I found a really nice way to enjoy it. Go buy some food and champagne and just sit by the Seine river, in Trocadero or in the gardens down the tower. You’ll have a great view while relaxing, and it’s amazing.
  • Visit the place around sunset. There’s not much to say, you’ll get some great shots. The view is amazing.
When it comes to shopping, MAN, there are some nice places to go to. You can find some great stores, and still affordable, at Les Quatre Temps (in La Défense), Beaugrenelle Paris, la Bastille and les Champs-Élysées! But if you’re willing to splurge, like, REALLY SPLURGE, Galeries Lafayette and Avenue Montaigne are made just for you. Last weekend, a friend and I walked down that avenue and felt incredible poor haha. It’s the street were you can find all the designer stores, go figure. Someday though *sighs again*.

I won’t say a lot about touristic places because I’m sure we have all read a lot about them already. But you cannot come to Paris and not visit Montmartre, la Basilique du Sacré-Cœur, le Musee du Louvre, Montparnasse tower, le Arc de Triomphe and all that jazz. I still need to visit the Musee d’Orsay and find my prince Louis (Gossip Girl reference) though and the stadium where PSG plays at.

Important thing to say, I cannot speak french. Well, just the most basic stuff ever. And it helps me to move around the city and survive and be nice to people in the streets. So, don’t worry if you don’t know the language. People here (most of them) don’t really mind if you ask for help in english or in a not-so-well-pronounced french.

Oh, I have a love-hate relationship with the metro (as they call the subway/underground here in Paris). I love the fact that it takes you everywhere in so little time, but I totally despise huge crowds and it can get really crowded at peak hours. And there are some creepy guys sometimes, but if you’re with someone else, it’s not much of a problem. But if you’re alone, I’ve learned that you can always listen to music and ignore the person who approaches you. Hahaha. You just gotta be careful and keep an eye on your surroundings.

French cuisine, eh, not my favorite. But as it is a cosmopolitan city, you can find any type of food really. So, don’t really worry if you’re a fussy eater. You can always order the basics in almost every restaurant. And if you want to save up some cents, order water. Like, plain water. They won’t charge you! And when it comes to desserts, I’ve completely fallen in love with the vanilla macaroons and eclairs!!!

Last, but not least (wow, such a cliché sentence)...Paris, France in general, is so close to so many countries in Europe and that’s definitely something awesome about it. I really want to travel to Germany or Amsterdam on my week off, we’ll see. I already travelled to London for a weekend, just to see One Direction (GAAAAAAH) (I promise a post about it is coming soon!!!!!!) and it was incredible! Just took me about 3 hours to get there.
Just a little teaser ;) (literally)
Talking about school, I’ve been pretty darn busy! All of my projects demand a hell of attention from me. But, as my mother would say, I wanted to study abroad. And I’ve had the opportunity to meet some amazing people, some of them I can call them my friends and it’s grool. It’s really nice getting to know different cultures and stuff.

Before living here, Paris wasn’t my cup of tea, to be honest. But after 53 days, I can definitely tell you that I’ve learned to love it. There’s always something going on around, whether it’s an art exposition, a fashion show, a silent disco party, a concert, an ERASMUS party, anything! And I’m pretty sure that if you give it a chance, you’ll learn to love it as I did.

This is pretty much it for the moment, but I seriously promise to write more about my life here! I hope you enjoy this post and please feel free to say hi in the comments if you’re a reader from France!!! If you want to see more pictures of Paris and food and One Direction and 5SOS and selfies, you can check out my Insty: @geovanagallegos.

It’s almost hump-day! We’re nearly there! Have a lovely week, salts (yeah, I felt the need to say that, sorry).

Over and out.

PS. I want to give a shout out to all of those amazingly good looking guys I’ve seen on the streets/metro of Paris, you’re da real MVPs. And it’s sad that I won’t see you ever again, have a great life, dudes.

August favorite songs

Hello, everybody! It’s no secret that we love music, that’s why we decided to write a post about our August favorite songs. Note: they’re not necessarily new, they’re what we’ve been listening to lately.

Just A Little Bit Of Your Heart – Ariana Grande
Not gonna lie, Gee wanted to listen to this song just for the fact that Harry Styles wrote it. And let us tell ya, IT IS AMAZING. Our fave from Ariana’s new album, My Everything. Her voice is perfect for this song, it gives you goosebumps and all that jazz, really. (Ariana said Harry recorded a demo for this song, WE NEED IT IN OUR LIVES NOW. Please and thank you).

Anaconda – Nicki Minaj
We’ve been singing this for the last couple of days since we watched Nicki performing it at the VMAs. It’s really catchy and a good song for jammin’. We know, we know, it might be a little explicit, but you can’t deny it, it’s a fun song! Oh my gosh, look at her butt! Hahahaha

Bang Bang – Jessie J, Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj
This song, performed by 3 of the best ladies in the industry, doesn’t even need to be explained! With Jessie’s & Ari’s powerful voices and Nicki’s swag, we get the best of both worlds in one freaking song. BANG BANG INTO THE ROOM, I KNOW YOU WANT IT!

I’m a Rapper – Marcus Butler
So, we’ve mentioned this guy before. And this song, too. Even though it’s been a while since it was released (along the video), we sing it on a daily basis, no joke. Every time someone says “money”, we break into the song and start jamming. ‘Cause there’s no point in denying it, IT IS OUR JAM haha.

Chandelier – Sia
Sia is a music industry genius, enough said. She’s written most of the latest hits for a lot of artists, and she’s not far behind as a solo artist. Did you know she was going to give this song to Rihanna? Then, she decided to keep it: wise decision. And the video to the song, OMG! Simply amazing, the whole concept will blow your mind.

Don’t Let Me Go – Harry Styles
Leaked or not, this song is perfection. It’s no secret that Harry is an incredibly talented young man and, even though he sounds great whilst singing with his mates in One Direction, only listening to his voice in this one is just asdfghjkl. Plus, it’s so beautiful written it should be recorded soon tbh. *hint, hint, 1D* Kudos to Mr. Styles!

Boom Clap – Charli XCX
Who doesn’t like a good love song? It just happens that this is not your typical love song. With Charli’s style, Boom Clap is a really cool song. Besides, it’s in TFIOS soundtrack. Couldn’t be better!

Close As Strangers – 5 Seconds of Summer
If you’ve read our posts, you probably know that we love these Aussies by now. So, anything unexpected. Breaks our hearts every single time we listen to it, but we just can’t stop. And we won’t stop. (Miley, anyone? hahaha) Voices are on point, instruments sound perfect as usual, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t love it!

Flawless – Beyoncé
Queen B, that’s it. Hahaha. It’s impossible not to love her or her songs! Again, after watching the VMAs, it got stucked in our brains. I WOKE UP LIKE THIS. You can see this everywhere, shirts, beanies, mugs, stickers; name it and it will be on it. And, did anyone see Blue Ivy’s dancing skills?! Too cute not to mention.

Pretty Hurts – Beyoncé
Another by Queen B. She slays, really, as always. This one was written by Sia (told ya, she’s a genius) and it talks about inner beauty being more important than anything. Beyoncé’s vocals are perf for the song. Round of applause, please!

Break Free – Ariana Grande ft. Zedd
This EDM vibe and Ariana’s voice are the perfect combo! Besides, lyrics are on point: “I only wanna die alive, never by the hands of a broken heart”, we all want that. And “this is the part when I say I don’t want ya, I’m stronger than I’ve been before”. It’s definitely the independent girl anthem you’ve been waiting for!

One Way or Another (Cover) – One Direction
Maybe it’s because that song is Gee’s alarm tone, but it’s always in our heads. Let’s accept it, the video is amazeballs and extremely funny! A smile is plastered on our faces every time we watch it and it will never get old. Even our guy friend said it was “nice” and coming from him, it is definitely a good one hahaha, trust us.

Shake It Off – Taylor Swift
From the lyrics to the VMAs performance; this song makes you wanna dance. And you definitely do it, even if you are not THAT good at it hahaha. It’s great to see Taylor Swift’s new era after all the success she achieved as a country artist and we’re sure the best is yet to come for this girl. Our favorite part of the song and video? MY EX-MAN BROUGHT HIS NEW GIRLFRIEND,SHE’S LIKE “OH MY GOD”, BUT I’M JUST GONNA SHAKE IT. AND TO THE FELLA OVER THERE WITH THE HELLA GOOD HAIR, WON’T YOU COME OVER, WE CAN SHAKE, SHAKE, SHAKE. Hahaha. The cheerleader-ish part is a cool touch tbh.

Shower – Becky G
We’re dancing in the mirror, singing in the shower, la da di, la da da, la da da. We love Becky G, and the fact that she’s latina and she’s smashing it make us really really proud of her! This single of her is another love and cheesy song. CUTE!

End Up Here – 5 Seconds of Summer
Man, the feelings for this song are endless! We love everything about it. If you have read our review on 5SOS debut album, then you know it. But if you haven’t, you can find it here. We’re in love with the lyrics, message, backing vocals, instruments, tempo & volume changes: literally EVERYTHING! Thanks Lukey, Cal, Mikey & Ash for making such a great song.

English Love Affair – 5 Seconds of Summer
Don’t ask why, just go listen to it and you’ll understand the reason why we love this song SO much! It’s just that there’s something dark about it and it’s not that easy to explain.

Wanna hear these songs?! Here's our playlist:

That’s it for today. As you can see, we GENUINELY love music. And this list doesn’t even get close to all of the song we like! Let us know your current favorite songs in the comments down below or via our social media.

Love you! x

Running late tips

HELLO, EVERYONE! It’s really been a while since we don’t post anything :( But school and stuff… We’ve missed you lots! But we’ve been busier than we thought we would be, sorry about that.

Anyways, today, we’re finally back, and with a very useful post: RUNNING LATE TIPS! Don’t think we’re writing about this because we run late 5/5 a week hahaha, obviously that never happens to us. We’ll give you some of our tips to look like you have been out of bed for more than 5 minutes.

  • First things first. Change your clothes! It’s pretty obvious, we know, but unless you’re a good kid and pick out your outfit the night before –even though no one does that tbh– don’t waste more than 5 minutes looking for your ootd. Clean jeans and a shirt is the choice. You might want to pick out a sweater or a hoodie or a jacket, ‘cause mornings are usually chilly and we’re getting closer and closer to fall!!!
  • Brush your hair. If you’re used to morning showers, you’re DEFINITELY not likely to accomplish that on time. Gross, yeah. Dry shampoo is always a good option for these days. Anyway, if you did or not wash your hair, brush it! And let it dry, that’s it. A simple braid, a loose ponytail or a messy bun are good options, too, it makes you look like you tried, but you really didn’t.
  • Basic makeup or no makeup at all. Yeah, it’s okay to not wear makeup when you’re running late. But if you don’t feel like going out without it, just wear basic makeup. A nice moisturizer, a good mascara, some lip balm and you’re good to go. But there’s a huge chance you’re really late by this point, so you can always put all your makeup inside a makeup bag and take it to school. You can get your makeup done once you’re sure you’ll make it in time! DON’T, and by “don’t” we mean, DON’T try to get it done while you’re in the car. Some women are super duper good at it and turns out great, but if you’re not a pro, it will be a mess.
  • Grab something to eat and/or drink. After all, breakfast is said to be the most important meal of the day, and we don’t want you to get sick. And if you’re running super late, make sure you’ve got money to buy some nice food. Remember, no skipping breakfast!
  • Oh, yeah. Don’t forget to brush your teeth! No one likes morning breath, right?! Keep it clean, folks.
  • Make sure you don’t forget anything. When you’re running late it’s almost 100% accurate that you forget one or two things you really need to carry with you. But, don’t worry, it happens to all of us. If you’ve got the time, have a quick check on your stuff. And if you don’t, relax bc you’re a human, nothing bad will happen.

So, there you have it, some of our tips for those days when you don’t wake-up in time. Remember to not stress out about it, it happens all the time to everyone (at least that’s what we’ve being told, haha).

Man, we really missed this cool bloggers’ life. Don’t forget we have Twitter, Instagram and all that social stuff you, beautiful people, love. Let us know your thoughts about The Nameless Blog!

Thanks. See you soon! x

Back to school essentials! (+ some other changes)

Hello! Lately, we haven’t been here :( And it's because everything in our lives has been a bit wild and or busy. Summer break ended for us *crying*, Oddie had a car accident just the day before first day of school (great) and now we're back to school. But that's ok, it has been really good to catch up with our friends and seeing everybody again. BUT, HOMEWORKS AND STUFF, THO!

Yet, there's another thing we absolutely love about going back to school: buying new stuff! So, we thought it might be a good idea to write about our back to school essentials. Ready? Let's go!

We think you need these, at least:

  • Cute and fun notebooks or binders

  • Pens

  • Pencils

  • Liquid paper

  • Highlighters

  • Pencil case

  • A cool backpack/tote/bag

  • Chewing gum (HAHAHAHA) Specially if they don't sell chewing gum at your school, like in ours :/

Of course there's a LOT of more things us girls carry to school. Don't even lie, you're not carrying just that. We're pretty sure there's at least one makeup-y item in your stuff, and probably food and/or water. And a nice wallet, too.

Now, it’s time for a little topic change. Okay, so we decided to push back this topic for a couple of days, but it was bound to happen tbh. Some major changes are happening...again. Our schedule is really hectic nowadays, because of school and stuff, that’s why we’ve decided to change the blog’s schedule! We won’t be writing daily, but we’ll definitely post at least 3 times a week. And, we’ll write about anything that comes into our minds on those days. The previous daily posts schedule won’t stay anymore from now on. We’re really sorry, but this is gonna get better, we promise! And, who knows? Maybe we’ll do that daily schedule again, someday.

That is it for today’s post. Thanks for understanding, again, hahaha. But, lately, everything has been a little mess.

We love you!

What are YOUR back to school essentials? Let us know in the comments, we'd like to know.
