Girl Power

Hello, everyone!

As you can see, it’s our very first “Heck Yeah, it’s Monday!” post. YAY! We decided to write about a little girl power in the entertainment biz. And there’s no better way to do it than writing about a duo and a girl band that represent girl power! Not only because they’re from our favorites, but because they just released great stuff last week.

Megan & Liz

  • 21-year-old twins, Megan and Liz Mace, originally from Edwardsburg, Michigan, made their way into the music industry by uploading covers and original songs on YouTube.
  • Megan plays the guitar, Liz is learning to play the mandolin and keyboards, and both of them sing amazingly great.
  • The Macers, their lovely fanbase, have taken a huge part in M&L’s success over the years.
  • They have performed in various festivals like the annual 107.5 The River’s Acoustic Christmas, Z100 Jingle Ball, Wango Tango and Popfest, alongside Ed Sheeran, Hot Chelle Rae, Cher Lloyd and Demi Lovato.
  • Megan and Liz wrote “Are you happy now?” and teamed up with Do something organization against bullying.
  • Released EPs until 2012: A Twinning Christmas EP, This Time and Bad for Me.
  • The singles “Bad for me” and “Release You” were in the 100 top iTunes songs.
  • Won Macy’s iHeart Radio Rising Star contest in 2012.
  • They have been featured in the New York Times, Billboard, Teen Vogue and Seventeen magazine. They also performed at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and one of their songs was in an Audi commercial.
  • Co-wrote songs with Jason Reeves, Liz Huett, Martin Johnson, and many others.

Earlier this year, they moved back to Nashville after their label, The Collective, closed. It was a challenge for the twins, but they decided to follow their hearts and created something with a country sound, different from what they had done lately, their newest EP called “Simple Life”.
Full of perfect harmonies that give you goosebumps and make you feel giddy inside, it includes the following songs: “Simple Life”, “A Better Me”, “Karma’s Coming Back for Me”, “New at This”, “Night of our Lives”, “Switch Hearts” and ‘Grave”. The lyrics were inspired on their own life experiences (bumps on the road and heartbreaks), proving that these sick talented sisters have grown up and deserve to be recognized.
On the day of release, June 3rd, this EP was in the top 5 country albums in places like New Zealand, Mexico, UK and United States.
They have an upcoming StageIt show on June 20th; grab your tickets while you can!!!

Cimorelli

  • Girl band from Sacramento, California and well-known from YouTube. There are 6 members: Christina (23), Katherine (22), Lisa (20), Amy (18), Lauren (15) & Dani (13) Cimorelli. Yup, all sisters. And they have 5 brothers too!
  • Released EPs until 2014: Hello There (2008 - unsigned), CimFam EP (2011), Believe It EP (2012) and Made In America (2013).
  • Won the “Bieber-Off”, contest by Ryan Seacrest of the bests covers of Justin Bieber’s hit, “Boyfriend” in 2012. Also, nominated for “Choice Web Star” in Teen Choice Awards 2012, but lost. In 2013, they won the award, YAY!
  • Teamed up with AT&T on their “Don’t Text and Drive” campaign with a few covers and videos.
  • Collaborated with James Maslow, from Big Time Rush, on a cover of Justin Timberlake’s song “Mirrors”. They all are big fans of Big Time Rush, so they described this experience as unbelievable.
  • Made in America Promo Tour across the US in 2013. Also, they have been part of festivals like the Social Music Festival, Sacramento Jingle Ball, DigiFestUK, DigiFestNYC & DigiFestToronto.
  • They treat fans like their family, so they called them the CimFam. Cimorelli constantly show their love and gratitude to them, stating that “it’s all because of the CimFam”.

It all started in 2007, a singing group doing covers of popular songs with their own arrangements and harmonies. Cimorelli’s success in YouTube grew up fast and the family moved to LA, so the girls could pursue a music career. Since then, they have been non-stop: from working on their debut album and their VEVO channel to collaborating with AwesomenessTV, Subway, Hasbro, Seventeen Magazine, Nickelodeon, DreamWorks and many more.
On June 3rd, their very own show, “Summer With Cimorelli”, premiered at the YouTube Space LA. Before the premiere, Cimorelli did a special 30 minutes performance and answered fan questions. “Summer With Cimorelli” is a web scripted series about the 6 sisters with an empty house, no parents, a monkey and the whole summer ahead. Yes, you read right, a monkey. So, you should definitely check it out, it’s super fun and the first episode is currently on their YouTube channel, Cimorelli.

Now that you know more about Megan & Liz and Cimorelli, what are you waiting for? Go check them out! After you finish reading this, of course. We’ll leave their links for you down below.
