Made In The A.M. Review

Hello, everybody. It’s Thursday and I should be studying for my quiz, but guess what? I am definitely not capable to do that after I listened to One Direction’s Made In The A.M.. Yes, I know what you are thinking, the album’s release is tomorrow, as in November 13th, but I pre-order it and the cheeky post office delivered it today.

A tiny little introduction for those who don't know what I'm talking about (but seriously, if you don't, what world do you live in?!). Made In The A.M. is One Direction's fifth album and they decided to release it just before they have a well-deserved break.

So, with no further ado, here is my song-by-song review.
  • Hey Angel
WHAT A NICE WAY TO START YOUR FIFTH ALBUM, ONE DIRECTION. Setting the bar high since the very beginning. So, I know we were all anticipating this song with excitement because of the constant tweeting from Harry Styles. The cheeky lad kept giving out lyrics from this song in particular. And, I really thought it would be a slow and emotionally wrecking song. Yes, the lyrics are emotionally wrecking, but it’s not slow AT ALL. All of the vocals in this song are flawless, but I have to give it up to Harry in particular. And when the bass drops during the second verse, it gives me the chills. Oh, and the mixture of guitars, background vocals and violins makes me think a lot of Coldplay. Eeek.

  • Drag Me Down
Being the first single from this album, I’ve listened to this song ever since and I was buzzing when the music video was released because, come on, what other band in this world films a music video at the freaking NASA? Certainly, not all of them. This was our first chance to kind of know what to expect from their fifth album. I could easily tell that Made In The AM would be different from wha they’ve done before, and I was right. Harry Styles’ riffs are on point, even when he sings them live- I’ve been there, trust me.

  • Perfect
It’s been weeks since the music video came out and the feelings are still here. Being honest, this song was the one that made me more excited than ever for this album. I adore the transition between the first and the second part of the chorus. And I love the rawness going on during the bridge. I really, really, really, really like Niall’s voice here. There’s nothing I can say that will make justice to it, because it is truly perfect.

  • Infinity
I enjoy how every single instrument is slowly added into the song before we reach the first chorus. If you use earphones, it will be easier for you to notice this. Musically speaking, the transition between last two choruses is incredible!!!! And, once again, the voices are greatness.

  • End Of The Day
My favorite thing about this song, and even Odette thought the same after the first time she listened to it, is the change we can listen from the verses to the chorus. I need to say that Louis voice is a lot more confident throughout the album in comparison to their previous work, and I couldn’t be happier. His high note in this one is SO on point.

  • If I Could Fly
Mr. Harry Styles tweeted about this song and he immediately made me want to listen to it. I was 100% that it would become my favorite track from this album - don’t ask why, the heart knows what it knows- and it came out to be true. This is my absolute favorite song from Made In The A.M.. It’s a slow ballad, but it feels different from every other ballad these lads have ever come up with. The vocals alongside the piano and violins, give it some type of heart-swelling rawness (favorite word at the moment haha) and the lyrics are simply beautiful. I also love how the rhythm picks up during the bridge, goes back down during the chorus and then picks it up at the last part of the chorus. But then we have a fully raw ending. GAH. You can definitely tell this is my favorite one.

  • Long Way Down
Background vocals are beautiful and adds up to the song in a great way. I dare to say that the verses are more “talked” than sung and it makes it very different from everything else. I really love the chorus and the vibe Harry’s raspy voice gives to it. It’s such a relaxing song, to be honest.

  • Never Enough
If there is a song in this whole album that you need to listen with your earphones on, THIS IS IT. Warning, you might get a little scared at the beginning haha, but it is just insane. I love the upbeat going on during the 3:33 minutes of this song. Such a catchy chorus and the come ons being shouted are a dream. I find myself dancing and jamming out with this one. The bridge is the best part of it. No joke.

  • Olivia
I live for Niall’s deep voice during the first line and the pre-chorus. Violins made quite a participation in this album and I couldn’t ask for more. This song has a very old school sound, specially during the bridge, and it sounds very posh. I like that.

  • What A Feeling
The chorus literally makes me go like what a feeling. The whole song has a 60s vibe to it and I just cannot stop thinking about The Bee Gees when the chorus comes up. I am in love with the transition that goes from the verses to the chorus (yeah, I mentioned it for the 10x time), and later on, between the bridge and the first part of the last chorus. Lyrically, this is one of my faves.

  • Love You Goodbye
This is the type of break up track that, just as the lyrics themselves say, twist the knife over and over again. Louis Tomlinson, once again, sends shivers down my spine with his freaking high note in the bridge. The guitars sound crazy amazing!

  • I Want To Write You A Song
The lyrics are simply beautiful and their voices sound angelically. No joke. Louis does it again and his raspy voice in the chorus makes my heart skip a beat. I particularly love the harmony between their voices and guitars are incredible.

  • History
Such a good tune to wrap the album (it’s not the last one if you buy the Deluxe Edition, though). They have said that this song is for their fans, and I couldn’t agree more. Even if the lyrics can be quite emotional, like every single song, its beat makes me want to dance and sing at the top of my lungs (maybe it’s because of all the good vibes the background vocals have and you can actually listen to people cheering). Just like Act My Age from their album Four, it made want to get drunk at an Irish pub and dance ridiculously. Nothing has changed.

And the bonus tracks, of course.
  • Temporary Fix
I’ve read a lot about this song being basically No Control 2.0. It does have the same kind of theme, but personally the whole track is just waaaaaaaaay more mature; lyrics, voices, melody, everything. I love how the beat speeds up during the chorus as well. It also has the Midnight Memories (the song) vibe that I was dying to hear again, that rock ‘n roll soul given by Harry Styles’ voice. This is also a very catchy tune.

  • Walking In The Wind
I define this as a good-break up kind of song. Again, I totally love the lyrics. And once again, these guys keep having amazingly good transitions between the verses and the choruses. Not to mention that note in the bridge when Harry sings the line just close your eyes and see (and it totally makes sense, right?), how he picks it up at the very end, is just on point. I know you know what I’m talking about (or you will).

  • Wolves
This song has a soul and you can hear it. I want to praise the people behind the instruments; guitars, bass, drums, they are all perfect in this one. And, especially during the bridge. Hands down, people. Liam’s high notes in the bridge are amazing, but it’s no surprise as his notes are always perfect. I love how Harry’s voice sounds in the beginning of the last chorus, with nothing else but just the background vocals.

  • A.M.
Favorite part of the song? When the bass makes an entrance in the chorus, because it gives depth to the whole track. I really like the lyrics as you can totally relate to them. Again, the voices sound excellent in this song. A nice way to end the Deluxe version of Made In The A.M.

In a lot of recent interviews these guys have talked about how it is possible to see/hear the influence from their musical inspirations in this album and they were telling the absolute truth.

I know a lot of people who are not keen on the idea of listening to One Direction, simply because they were put out in the world as a pop boy band. If you are one of those and you’re reading this, give them a try. You will see that they have come a long way since their X Factor days and have evolved into amazingly talented musicians, singers and writers.

Now, if you love them as much as I do, I cannot put into words the emotions this album will make you feel with every single word, harmony, high note, chord.

In conclusion, Made In The A.M. is the living proof of Harry, Niall, Louis and Liam’s hard work and talent. They definitely set the bar even higher with this record and I truly hope this will make everyone take their music more seriously.

Hands down yo everyone who poured their hearts into the making of this new album, not only the boys from 1D, but everyone behind aka Julian Bunetta, Jamie Scott, Ed Drewett, John Ryan, Jacob Kasher, Johan Carlsson, Ross Golan and more (this are the names that popped in my mind, soz), your hard work is very much appreciated.

Thank you Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne. As I am always tweeting/saying, thank you for doing what you love, loving what you do and making us extremely happy in the process. Cannot wait to see what the future will bring to you all.

You can buy Made In The A.M. in the nearest music store, in One Direction's official store or digitally in this link: http://smarturl.it/1DmitamDXiT

I hope you like this review, I always love writing about things I’m passionate about. Let us know what you think and if you liked the album!

FOUR review

HELLO EVERYBODY! We know, we know, it’s been a pretty ducking while since we posted in here. But we’re back! *woop woop*. And you better be ready for us, because WINTER BREAK IS HERE! And that could only mean one thing: LOTS OF POSTS COMING YOUR WAY!

We wanted to write a review on the new 1D’s album, FOUR, since it was released. But, due to our school activities, we just couldn’t find the time for it. But, here we go!

  1. Steal My Girl
Na na na na na na. Such a cheesy song, but we love it. The piano on it is on point and the lyrics are so cute. And the video is really fun and lovely to watch, ‘cause the boys seem to be so happy and fully enjoying it!

  2. Ready To Run
Wherever you are is the place I belong. Oh, that beat, perfect for this song. Plus, the vocals and harmonies are beyond amazing. And to all that, add the message and, BOOM! Great song. Without you, I’ll never make it out alive.

  3. Where Do Broken Hearts Go
Did someone want a song about trying to get back your loved one? The boys from 1D nailed it again with this beautiful song. Wouldn’t you do anything to get back that love? And, did you notice the little changes in the beat throughout the song? They literally enhance the song.

  4. 18
Ugh, Harry’s voice at the beginning, it’s not fair! It kills us, such a beautiful voice. And that guitar, it makes it such a warm song. Plus, we really enjoyed the change between the first verse and the rest of the song. Not to mention how lovely their voices sound together. Or the background vocals. Oh! And Louis’ solo sends chills down our spines.

  5. Girl Almighty
Let’s have another toast to the girl almighty. This is our jam. No joke. We feel like someone is writing song about our lives, hahaha. And it has such a happy vibe that it makes you wanna dance to it.

  6. Fool’s Gold
How do we even begin with this song? Every time we listen to it, we get the feelings, man. There are times in life when you fall for people who don’t necessarily love you back or those whose love doesn’t belong to anyone in particular, and this song portrays that exactly. Another warm song thanks to the guitar and the beat. Lyrics are perfect, their voices are perfect; the entire song is, wait for it, PERFECT.

  7. Night Changes
So, this song. *sigh* Have you watched the video? It’s perfection. We won’t even start with that ‘cause we’d end up writing like 20 pages haha. But we totally love it! The harmonies throughout this song are really incredible, they give that retro vibe to the song, and they make it totally cool.
Oh! And, we’ve got a question, in the first verse when Zayn sings (amazingly great by the way) going out tonight, changes into something red, do you think it means: a) the girl changes into a red dress or b) the night changes drastically. Let us know down in the comments!!!! We’ve been asking this to ourselves for a while.
  8. No Control
Ugh. That little voice thing they do with the first and last word of each first line. Staaaained coffee cuuuuup. Louis’ voice is SO on point in the chorus! We’ve all been in this situation, right? When you can’t help but like someone so much that it physically hurts?!! I’m all yours, I’ve got no control. Plus, Zayn singing that bridge, oh my.

  9. Fireproof
This was the first song we listened to, when One Direction let us download it for free a couple of months ago. We immediately knew we were going to love the album! The way Zayn reaches high notes is a dream. And again, they give us , beautiful, cool and retro harmonies. Who can resist to this song? It’s been so long, maybe we’re fireproof.

  10. Spaces
Dunno why, but this one reminds us a lot of Coldplay’s sound. Harry’s vocals at the end of this song, MAN. Honestly, this song brings out so many feelings. Like, there’s always people growing apart, but it’s never easy when you know someone’s walking out of your life. Who’s gonna be the first to say goodbye? That’s the real question here.

  11. Stockholm Syndrome
If this song doesn’t make you stand up and dance, then we don’t know what will! This is more of an upbeat song and we love that. We remember this quote from Harry Potter when someone says: “you’re gonna suffer, but you’re gonna be happy about it”, and we think we can associate it with the song haha. Sometimes people or situations hold you back, but you end up liking it. Or them. Besides, it usually happens when you least expect it, so...

  12. Clouds
Oh, man. These lyrics basically say: “you decided to walk out of my life, shame on you, I’m enjoying life”, lol. This is, like, the best break-up song ever, ‘cause it’s not just another one that makes you wanna sob about your relationship. Cheers on that!

  13. Change Your Ticket
This song reminds us a lot of Girls by The 1975, another on with a retro vibe, and it’s really good! I don’t wanna say goodbye. And we all have that person (or people), we wish we could spend some more time with! So, here you have another relatable song.

  14. Illusion
Such a cute song! I promise falling for me won’t be a mistake. The way they all sing the verses is just asdfghjkl. Like, that emphasis they give to the words is everything.

  15. Once in a Lifetime
There are things that don’t happen twice in life, so it’s better to make the most of it while we can. Beautiful message, right? And to that, you can add the amazing vocals, perfect harmonies and ideal speed of the song.

  16. Act My Age
This will definitely be our jam when we’re old ladies haha. I can count on you after all that we’ve been through, ‘cause I know you’ll always understand. We’re totally in love with the irish-y vibe it has, plus the whistles and piano. Damn. We don’t know about you, but it makes us wanna go to an Irish pub, get drunk and sing along with all of our friends.

And that’s a wrap, friends!

Overall, we think this is One Direction’s best album so far and we are so in love with it! If you’re a fan, you’ll understand us. But if you’re not, give it a try and you’ll see these four guys are extremely talented and their music will amaze you.

If you’re an old-fashioned heart, you can grab FOUR at the nearest music store. But if you’re more into digital music, you can get it on iTunes.

Again, sorry we were MIA for so long, but we’re back!!!! Show us some love in the comments or via social media.

We love you. Yes, you. The one reading this post.

P.S. Dear One Direction and management, we’d appreciate a live or an acoustic album. What in the world are you waiting for?! Please and thank you.

"5 Seconds of Summer" review

Hello, everyone. It’s July 22nd, TIME FLIES! Anyway, we know it’s Tuesday and we commonly write about decoration or DIY, but we’ll make an exception today. Why? Well, one of our favorite bands released its first album ever. Yes, we’re talking about 5 Seconds of Summer! Sit back and relax while you read this review about the songs that have been stuck in our heads since they were released.

So, this is our version of the album. Here we go!

1. She Looks So Perfect
Their first single. Simply amazing, super catchy and very lovable. Honestly, you’ll find yourself humming this song all day long.

2. Don't Stop
Don’t stop, don’t stop what you doin’, ‘cause you know that, you know that I like it. Vocals and background vocals are so on point, instruments sound extremely good and if it doesn’t make you jump out of your seat, well, we don’t know what will.

3. Good Girls
C’mon, we all know a bad girl that hasn’t been caught. We feel like this is our song, and not because we like to escape with our boyfriends instead of studying. No, not exactly, but well… And that bridge, she’s a good girl (she’s a good girl) hasn’t been caught (she’s a good girl). Simple, yet amazing! The drums part after the bridge is also REALLY cool.

4. Kiss Me Kiss me
Hands down to Mr. Irwin, drums are good in every song, but in this one, MAN. Drummers are the backbone of the bands! And if you listen the intro very carefully, you’ll find out that the guitar sounds unbelievably good!

5. 18
We think this song is another proof that the 5SOS lads are just normal teenagers, dealing with normal issues, including fancying someone older than you. Yes, you know you’ve done that. Luckily for them, they’re all over 18 now ;) haha. But, buying a fake ID for you is a huge commitment, you know?

6. Everything I Didn't Say
THE FEELS. This song says everything you’d like to say, especially after a breakup :( Ashton and Calum (along with the other co-writers), you’re truly genius. It makes us feel shivers down our spines. Living proof that music is the best way of expressing yourself. When words fail, music speaks...

7. Beside You
This song is completely sad but beautiful, if that’s even possible. Yeah, we think it is. The tempo is way too cool in this one, especially the change you get to listen when it comes to the chorus & bridge. I wish I was beside you. YEAH, WE ALSO WISH THAT, 5SOS.

8. End Up Here
How the heck did I end up here?! Yep, you know you’ve asked this to yourself. To us, this song is an eye opener ‘cause it really makes you reflex about things you thought would never happen. Yes, keep those heads up, everything is possible. Musically talking, that moment when drums start, just after the first verse in the chorus, is pure happiness and our favorite part. And it’s our fave because it’s when the song gets a higher tempo & volume, and ASDFGHJKL. We love that it just gets crazy. And also, that part after the bridge where you just hear claps and drums, JUST WOW.

9. Long Way Home
Your heart will melt after you listen to this song. There’s people you want to spend more time with, simply because you love the way they make you feel, but life doesn’t stop for anyone. That’s when you want to take the long way home...

10. Heartbreak Girl
We don’t know about you, but we’d like to sing this one to a couple of humans. Like, straight in their faces. We’ve all dealt with being friendzoned and 5 Seconds of Summer is not the exception. Again, we love how the tempo rises in the chorus. The first four seconds of this song are our favorite part ‘cause the guitar sounds marvelously great. And the best part is that you can listen to it again throughout the song!!!

11. Mrs All American
Another very catching and upbeat song. The little whistle you can hear in the background is great. And again, the bridge is extremely good! Na na na na na na na, Michael Clifford, you can’t just sing like that and leave us.

12. Amnesia
Perfectly written and beautifully sung. This is a heartbreaking song, no lies. We’ve found ourselves falling asleep while listening to it ‘cause it’s really calming. And Luke Hemmings, can you not? We were blown away by how good his voice sounds in this song (not that it isn’t in the others). Tell me this is just a dream, ‘cause I’m really not fine at all. We’re definitely not fine at all after listening to it!

13. Social Casualty
Have you ever felt like you don’t belong somewhere? Well, this song describes that feeling perfectly. So, let’s embrace ourselves & our weirdness and rock out to this song, everybody. C’mon, Luke said it, sing it with me now, la la la la la la da da. Drums, guitars and bass never sound so good before! If you don’t believe us, fast forward to minute 2:10 and you’ll know what we’re talking about.

14. Never Be
We’ll never be as young as we are now. And in fact, we won’t. So let’s seize every day, even if it’s a boring one. In matter of music, the slow tempo makes perfect this song. And those deep oh oh oh oh oh oh oh in the background, they make us shiver every single time.

15. Voodoo Doll
Ugh. There’s always a person in our lives that we know is no good to us, but we can’t seem to let her/him go. The tempo variations between the verses, bridge and chorus, makes it really catchy and fun! Won’t you please stop loving me to death? Everyone needs space in a relationship, just keep that in mind haha.

16. Greenlight
But Michael’s voice in this song, ASDFGHJKL. And guitars and bass sound sick, too! We’re dying over it, don’t mind us. No one likes mixed signals, you just gotta say things straight forward, peeps. Life lessons by 5 Seconds Of Summer.

And being the crazy fangirls we are, of course we're also reviewing the bonus tracks in the UK, Australian and Target version.

  • English Love Affair
One of our personal favorites, really. There’s something about the melody that makes you wanna dance and the deep vocals give you those goosebumps, putting your feelings on edge. Guitar, amazing again. We don’t know how to explain it, but there’s something dark about this song that we absolutely love.

  • Lost Boy
This is a super cute song, talking about how lost a boy could be without his soulmate. And the drums at the beginning are sick! So sad this isn’t in our version :(

  • Tomorrow Never Dies
One word: Calum. This one gives us the chance to admire how amazing & goosebumps-giving his voice is. Also, those guitars, drums and bass sound incredibly good here. DAMN, BOYS.

  • Independence Day
Toxic relationships aren’t good for anyone and you need to walk out from them. That’s what this upbeat song talks about. Vocals are amazing, once again. And we’re not even starting on the instruments, because they’re so good we would be talking about it all day long.

  • Close As Strangers
These guys make heartbreaking experiences sound so good! It doesn’t make the lyrics less painful or relatable, though. It’s never good when you start drifting apart from someone special to you and it seems you can’t do anything to stop it. These lyrics are just, ugh, greatly written. They’re the kind of lyrics that make you feel the author’s pain, sadness and frustration. Mikey & Ash (and other writers) you’ve done a great song. Not even lying, can feel the tears coming down our faces.

  • Out Of My Limit
Song written by Luke and Calum. So, this pretty much says it everything. Taking back to those high school memories when somebody you fancied didn’t even know you existed. Musically speaking, this upbeat song is really great, and the guitar solo in it is BEYOND perfect.

And, tbh, we’re really jealous of people in Japan right now. Their version algo has Heartache On The Big Screen, The Only Reason, What I Like About You, Rejects & Try Hard. Oh, and also has videos on it: She Looks So Perfect, She Looks So Perfect (Behind The Scenes) and Don’t Stop. Japan has got EVERYTHING!

Summary: These songs are perfection. From lyrics to background vocals to instruments, everything is extremely good. Not to mention that the guys’ voices have matured and you can relate to every single song. Hands down. Amazing debut album.

These four lads are between 20 and 18 years old, they’ve worked incredibly hard to get where they are right now and they deserved to be taken seriously. Ashton, Calum, Michael and Luke are living their dream whilst making fans happy all around the world.

If you haven’t bought the album, what are you waiting for?!! GO BUY IT! Here’s the link to get it on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/album/5-seconds-summer-bonus-track/id875597641?ign-mpt=uo%3D4

We hope you enjoy it as much as we do, really. Don’t forget that every single penny means a lot for them, as it allows 5SOS to continue this journey of making music and touring.

A long post, but we loved writing it. Putting thoughts and feelings into words is one of the hardest things. EVER. We’ll probably end up with a collar after rocking out to this album. Or crying. Or dancing. Or singing at the top of our lungs. Yeah, pretty much everything above.

Thanks for reading. Love you!

Bye, x
