Capital FM's Summertime Ball 2014

Hello, welcome to another Heck Yeah, It’s Monday!

Last saturday, London’s Wembley Stadium was the place where Capital FM’s Summertime Ball 2014 was held.

The line-up was:
  • Pharrell Williams
  • David Guetta
  • Ellie Goulding
  • Calvin Harris
  • Miley Cyrus
  • 5 Seconds of Summer
  • Enrique Iglesias
  • Cheryl Cole
  • Ed Sheeran
  • Rita Ora
  • The Vamps
  • Jessie J
  • Union J
  • Little Mix
  • Sam Smith
  • Austin Mahone
  • Clean Bandit
  • Iggy Azalea
  • Only The Young
And many others…

The STB was full of energy, fun, color and great performances. Every year they keep surprising us! This year’s ball was incredibly amazing! It left us speechless, so we’re writing it down for you.

Something that definitely surprised everyone, us included, was when Nathan Sykes joined Jessie J & DJ Cassidy to perform “Calling All Hearts”, a song she originally sings with Robin Thicke. Nathan gave it a different twist, making the song even better. Also, its was Nathan’s first solo performance, of course, after The Wanted’s break.

One of our fave bands, 5 Seconds of Summer, did a great job at the Summertime Ball. Ashton, Calum, Michael and Luke performed their hit singles “She looks so perfect” and “Don’t Stop”, as well as a cover of Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream”. Just a perfect first Summertime Ball experience!

And speaking of 5SOS and bands, the new British band Only The Young won a competition to perform their very first stadium show at this Capital Summertime Ball! Thanks to Vodafone -one of the festival’s sponsors- Mikey, Parisa, Betsy and Charlie were able to sing their hearts out as they were experiencing their first stadium show. Not gonna lie, I -Oddie- cried my heart out watching them perform. These guys were already used to being on stage as they were supporting acts for Jessie J, The Wanted, McFly and The Vamps. At the venue they met lots of artists, like Pharrell Williams, Iggy Azalea, Cheryl Cole, Austin Mahone and more. During and after the show, Only The Young hanged out with the lovely lads from 5SOS, George from Union J and the gorgeous Danielle Peazer. They even went out for a drink! WE WANNA HANG OUT WITH Y’ALL, GUYS!

If there’s a girl band we’d like to join, it would be Little Mix. These pretty ladies are the definition of girl power! Their amazing outfits and fierce moves, got everyone jumping and dancing at the STB. “Move” & “Salute”, singles from their latest album, were rocked out. After getting off stage, Leigh-Anne, Jade, Perrie and Jesy stayed around, supported other bands/singers and had an amazing time.

Ed Sheeran is another personal favorite. He enlightened us with the classics “Lego House”, “The A Team” and “You need me, I don’t need you”, but he also gave us a little taste of his newest album- “X” (Multiply)-, by singing “Sing” and “Thinking out Loud”. And talking about “X”, it comes out today!!!!! HANDS DOWN. You definitely need to get it!

We also got Austin Mahone with “Mmm Yeah”; Cheryl Cole sang “Crazy Stupid Love”, her 2010 hit “Fight For This Love” and “Call My Name”; Calvin Harris and David Guetta with their DJ sets; Clean Bandit performed “Rather Be” and “Extraordinary”; Due Dumont participated with Need U (100%)“” and “I Got U”; Ella Henderson sang “Ghost”; Ellie Goulding delighted us with her singles “Anything Could Happen”, “Burn”, “I Need You Love” and “Goodness Gracious”; Enrique Iglesias sang the famous “Tonight (I’m Lovin’ You)”, “I Like It”, “There Goes My Baby” and “I’m A Freak”; Iggy Azalea singing her hit “Fancy”; Jessie J performed “Wild”, “It’s My Party”, “Calling All Hearts” feat. Nathan Sykes & DJ Cassidy, “Price Tag”, “Domino” and “Ain’t Been Done”; Kiesza participated singing “Hideaway”; Miley Cyrus sang “Wrecking Ball”, the oldie “Party in the USA” and “We Can’t Stop”; Pharrell Williams performed his hit “Happy”, “Frontin”, “Get Lucky”, “Marilyn Monroe” and the famous “Blurred Lines”; we could watch Rita Ora singing “How We Do (Party And BS)” and “I Will Never Let You Down”; the band Rixton performed their single “Me And My Broken Heart”; The Vamps sang their songs “Can We Dance”, “Wild Heart”, “Last Night” and “Somebody To You” and boyband Union J performed their singles “Carry You” and “Tonight (We Live Forever)”. Unfortunately, Sam Smith had to pull out of the ball due to illness.

If you wanna check out all the performances, there are videos for all of them in Capital FM website (http://www.capitalfm.com/summertime-ball/videos/performances/).

That’s all for this looooong Heck Yeah, It’s Monday! post. Remember to leave your comments down below or in our social media. See you tomorrow, pals!

Being a fan ain't easy · World Cup

We're gonna start with the Tickets Sale Stress Sunday, lol. So, about two weeks ago 5 Seconds of Summer announced that they are coming to Mexico. AHHHHHH. Yep, that was our reaction. A friend and us are going to go and we're extremely excited about it.

We were signed up to their newsletter, and that’s why we were able to buy tickets in the fan pre-sale. And if we had to resume that day in one word, it would be: STRESS.

Lullie (our friend) and us agreed on meeting at Starbucks (yep, once again) and take our laptops in order to try and buy tickets for the concert. We arrived earlier, that meant we still had two hours to kill. We chatted about everything and anything, we couldn’t handle our excitement.

11 o’clock, and we were ready to buy them! Unfortunately, the pre-sale started late, approximately 15 minutes late. Saying that we were anxious is an understatement, to be honest. In our first try, we got amazing seats (B section), but the freaking ticket seller system didn’t let us buy them. WE TRIED. AND TRIED. AND TRIED. Tickets were sold out and we were on the verge of tears. We stayed as calm as we could and didn’t give up. That was the reason why we got two tix on section C (balcony).

Our problem was kind of solved, apart from the fact that we were still missing one ticket. There was going to be another pre-sale on Wednesday, so we kept our hopes up.

After stressing out all day, ‘cause the radio station didn’t help us by playing “She looks so perfect”, we realized we were lucky we had at least two tickets in the balcony.

Wednesday arrived, and to make a long story short, we bought three tickets. We were SO lucky and got three tickets in the 8th row. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

So, we were at Oddie’s place with five tickets and really happy. We had two sell the previous two in order to buy ours. So, we started offering them to other fans that were missing tickets.

A girl started hating on us just because we got our three seats together and were selling the other two!!!!! She said we were being rude and stuff like that. Like, excuse us for not keeping them to ourselves!!!!

We’ve noticed fans hating other fans just ‘cause they’ve got good tickets (or even tix far away from the stage) and stuff, claiming that they’re not true fans. Not to throw shade on anyone, but it doesn’t matter if you became a fan 2 years ago or yesterday, the most important thing is that you support Mikey, Ash, Luke and Cal because they are doing what they love-music- and that’s the best thing, they’ve said it themselves, so...

And now, in matter of Sports Sunday, there's nothing else going on than the World Cup. Yes, the World Cup.

At first, we weren't really excited for it. Like, we thought it was just one month of boring soccer. Or football in some countries. It all started with the very beginning of it: we didn't like that much the inaugural ceremony, to be honest. We found it a bit off and boring. Maybe it was because it was not that good, or maybe because nothing's gonna be the same after London 2012. We mean, that inaugural ceremony was AWESOME! Besides, Joseph Blatter and Dilma Rousseff didn't show off. And we understand it, people were going to be mean with them. But if you got an awful situation like that in your country, YOU DON'T DECIDE TO HAVE THE FREAKING WORLD CUP THERE!

Anyways... Later we got carried away with it, maybe waaay too carried away. We enjoyed the following matches to the inauguration; and now, well, you can say we're enjoying the World Cup a little bit more. For example, today's matches were pretty interesting. Hopefully, it will get a bit better every day.

Well, that's all for today, peeps. See y'all tomorrow with a Heck Yeah, It's Monday post. Remember to follow us in our social stuff and talk to us. We've got Twitter, Facebook and blah blah blah. You know that jazz :) The links to all our social media are in the homepage of the blog.
